The need for attainable housing in Door County has been a topic of much discussion and debate during the recent years.  As the tourism industry here grows, the need to support the diverse population that finds employment within the community becomes increasingly urgent.  All resort communities must face this challenge - to mindfully provide affordable housing solutions for residents of varying income levels, or risk losing the workforce necessary for local businesses to flourish.

MeadowWood Homes was fortunate to participate in a grant program thru the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for the first few years of development.  Because of the program, many peolpe were able to obtain and purchase an affordable home right here in Northern Door County. 

Unfortunately, the CDBG program has expired.  No amounts of down payment assistance are being giving to prospective homeowners at this time.  We hope that the State of Wisconsin, HUD and Wisc. Dept. of Commerce will be able to review and renew the program some day in the future.
